Abstract

Weaned rabbits were randomly allocated to four stocking densities of 10, 14.3, 20 and 25 rabbits/m2 in northern Nigeria. Rabbits stocked at 10 and 14.3 rabbits/m2 had similar (P0.05) was observed in average weekly feed intake, feed conversion ratio, mortality, carcass weight, dressing percentage and visceral organs of rabbits under the different placement densities. Rabbits housed at 14.3 rabbits/m2 had the lowest numerical mean value of cost of feed per kg live weight gain (N89.60). The gross margin, which is a measure of economic gain, revealed that rabbits reared at 10 were not significantly better (P>0.05) than their counterparts kept at 14.3 rabbits/m2
