Submission Checklist

Authors are referred to the following journal requirements for submission. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned to authors. Those interested in submitting their work should create an account or log in here.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • Articles should be in English, using standard British spelling and grammar, or in any indigenous or national language of eastern Africa
  • All submissions should be the original work of the author and be free of any plagiarism or uncredited work, including text generated by Large Language Models or AI. 
  • Authors should only submit one article for consideration per issue. 
  • All submissions should follow Chicago (full note) citation style. Please see the Chicago Manual of Style website: https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-1.html
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format.
  • The document used Calibri or Times New Roman 12-point font throughout the text.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • Figures or Images should be in at least 600 dpi quality. All figures must acknowledge the source of the image. Each image should have a caption of no more than 75 words including the source information. Documentation must be supplied before publication to show that the author(s) have copyright permission to reproduce the image for publication. 
  • Submissions should begin with a title page with the title, the author’s or authors’ name(s), email address(es), and institutional affiliation(s). Do not include this information (except for the title) in the rest of the document. If there is more than one author, the title page should also indicate the name(s) of the corresponding author(s).
  • Use single quotation marks except for a ‘quotation that is “inside” another quotation’
  • Authors will be required to sign a plagiarism declaration, a financial statement acknowledging all sources of funding that contributed to the research, and a disclosure statement indicating if the authors have any interest, financial or otherwise, prior to publication.
