Submissions

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

• The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
• The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format.
• Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
• Figures or Images should be in at least 600 dpi quality. All figures must acknowledge the source of the image. Documentation must be supplied to show that the author(s) have copyright permission to reproduce the image for publication. Each image should have a caption of no more than 75 words including the source information.
• The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
• The document used Calibri or Times New Roman 12-point font throughout the text.
• You have included a separate title page with the title, the author’s or authors’ name(s), email address(es), and institutional affiliation(s). Do not include this information (except for the title) in the rest of the document. If there is more than one author, the title page should also indicate the name(s) of the corresponding author(s).
• Articles should be in English, using standard British spelling and grammar, or in any indigenous or national language of eastern Africa
• Use single quotation marks except for a ‘quotation that is “inside” another quotation’
• All submissions should follow Chicago (full note) citation style. Please see the Chicago Manual of Style website: https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-1.html
• You have included a disclosure statement. This statement should indicate if any of the authors have any interest, financial or otherwise, arising from the research, writing or subject of the material.
• You have included a plagiarism declaration that follows this format:
  The author(s) _______ declare that this submission is their original work, that this submission does not contain plagiarism, and that this submission or material that informs this submission is not under consideration by any other publication.
  
• You have included a statement of funding. This statement should acknowledge all sources of funding that contributed to the research and/or writing, including the name of the funding agency or agencies and the name of the grant or grants.
